ASRY Boosts European Presence at Posidonia

MANAMA: ASRY, the leading ship and rig repair yard in the Arabian Gulf, showcased its products and services at one of the world’s leading shipping exhibitions, Posidonia, in Athens, boosting its commercial presence in one of the globe’s main shipping hubs.

Nils Kristian Berge, ASRY Chief Executive, commented at the show that “Posidonia is a strategic focal point for many of our European customers, especially Greek ship owners. Historically, the Greek market has been an important part of our ship repair revenues stream, and the show is an ideal platform to make personal contact with those clients, as well as raise awareness of ASRY in the continental market.”

Posidonia has grown on the back of a market upswing, with the 2014 iteration expecting record attendance to the 1,870 exhibitors from 93 countries. Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaris highlighted the importance of the show with a keynote speech and personal tour of the exhibition, including the ASRY stand. Greece is a Mediterranean hub for the shipping industry accounting for 7% of the countries GDP, and provides jobs for almost 192,000 people.
